The Alarm to make a special New York appearance as special guests for the THE POPPY FIELDS at the MERCURY LOUNGE, NEW YORK on NOVEMBER 12th 2018
The Alarm are thrilled to announce that they will be making a very special guest appearance as opening act for the Legendary UK band THE POPPY FIELDS, who will make their world debut at the Mercury Lounge, New York City on November 12th 2018.
Back in 2004, THE POPPY FIELDS burst into the UK Top 30 with their smash hit single 45 RPM, a classic pop-punk tune that prompted NME to describe the group as the “best new band in Britain”, and likening them to a hybrid of “Rancid meets The Clash“.
Legend has it that THE POPPY FIELDS were indeed Rancid themselves, or a more preposterous tale purporting that they were in fact, The Alarm in disguise. As it turns out no-one really knows who they were, because in amongst all the confusion, THE POPPY FIELDS managed to press the self destruct button and disappear before ever appearing in public,
Since their story was adapted and used as the inspiration for the British Cult Classic Movie Vinyl (starring Phil Daniels aka Quadrphenia’s Jimmy), interest in the band has soared, especially with copies of the rare 7″ single being auctioned by collectors on eBay, and other well known groups such as The Alarm, Chelsea, Weapons of Happiness and Dead Men Walking all covering 45 RPM on their albums and in their live sets.
No one has ever had the chance to see THE POPPY FIELDS live…. until now…and so finally…… after all this time….. LIVE NATION will bring The POPPY FIELDS plus very special guests The Alarm to the Mercury Lounge, New York City to make their stage debut on November 12th 2018.
