Here at MPO, we are over the moon to announce The Gathering Comes Home, a weekend festival ‘right back where we started from’, all those years ago at Rhyl Town Hall on December 11–12, 1992.

Now, an incredible 35 years later, The Gathering spirit lives on at Arena Mike Peters, a fitting tribute to Mike Peters who spent his formative years growing up alongside Rhyl Beach just a stone’s throw away from the Arena Mike Peters.

The Gathering was founded by Mike Peters in 1992 when he was keen to head back to his hometown of Rhyl North Wales after months of touring the world, to come home to Dyserth, empty his suitcase and instead create a unique role reversal with his devoted fans by inviting The Alarm family to pack up their suitcases and go on tour to Mike’s hometown of Rhyl instead!

The idea instantly took off, and year after year, hordes of Alarm fans have made the pilgrimage to North Wales to enjoy a weekend of live music, camaraderie, making incredible Alarm memories along the way!

Jules Peters explains “The Gathering became the cornerstone of our lives, the anchor to all our ups and downs, our joys and our sadness. The Gathering sustained us and we always loved the opportunity to share the beauty of our surroundings with The Alarm Family by inviting them into our hometown and country of Wales.

In Mike’s last days, I asked him how on earth could we continue The Gathering without him? He held my hand and told me that I would find a way.

Mike wanted me to continue the legacy of The Gathering. I felt that responsibility acutely. Continuing with the Gathering in Cardiff last year was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. With The Alarm family beside me, I found my strength and found a way forwards. You surrounded me and the boys with love supported us with hope for the future and showed up in strength for Mike. I’m forever grateful for that.

The Gathering in Cardiff gave me confidence to keep on going and to find the strength to keep on moving forwards but it was imperative to me that we brought the Gathering home to North Wales. I started exploring the option of Rhyl Town Hall but in a remarkable twist of fate, I was contacted by Denbighshire County Council asking if I would agree to them naming the Queens Market, the Arena Mike Peters! Hell yeah!

It couldn’t have been a more fitting location! Mike spent his youth growing up just a few blocks away on Rhyl Beach and in 1988 Mike and I were married at the Queens Hotel! It felt as though all the stars were aligned and soon I began calling people up and inviting them to come and play! They kept saying yes!

So here we are with a stellar line up of musicians all ready to travel to Rhyl in January 2027 to do what we do best! Gather!

Thank you for believing in The Peters Family!

We are excited to welcome you back to Rhyl, North Wales and to celebrate being The Alarm Family, honouring Mike’s incredible legacy as a musician, performer and songwriter. The boy straight out of Rhyl!

Evan Peters comments “Dylan and I grew up in Gathering years so it’s just part of who we are. The Gathering is in our DNA. I’m excited to be playing at Arena Mike Peters with so many talented musicians and I’ve already written the set lists! Dad trusted me to sing his songs and I promise I won’t let him down or The Alarm family”.

Dylan Peters adds “I’m so proud and honoured that Denbighshire County Council named the Queen’s Market Arena Mike Peters after my dad. It brings us great comfort as a family that he will be honoured forever in the town that he grew up in and the town where Evan and I grew up in and went to school. I can’t wait to welcome everyone to North Wales and to produce the best Gathering ever!”.
