’21st Century (radio edit)’ [3:58] (Mike Peters), Mike Peters
Lead Vocals:Mike Peters
Lyrics
:
I used to be a sweet and innocent child See the world in pictures of black and white Now it's all fading into one big crazy Twenty first century attitude (Come on, come on) I can't move I can't sit still Positives and negatives are making me ill I can't speak but I'm not dumb I might look like a hero but I feel like a bum (Come on, come on) Into the twenty first century A schizophrenic virtuality Into the twenty first century I'm bitter... I'm twisted... I'm cynical me Is this what you wanted? Is this what you really want? Is this what you wanted? Is this what you really want from me? Into the twenty first century Twenty first century I saw the best minds of a generation Dial up destruction with needles and guns I saw the blue sneakers on the blood stained carpet The media smiled 'cause it got what it wanted Into the twenty first century A schizophrenic virtuality Into the twenty first century I'm bitter... I'm twisted... I'm cynical me Is this what you wanted? Is this what you really want? Is this what you wanted? Is this what you really want from me? Into the twenty first century Twenty first century I used to be a sweet and innocent child See the world in pictures of black and white Now it's all fading into one big crazy Twenty first century attitude Is this what you wanted? Is this what you really want? Is this what you wanted? Is this what you really want It's a twenty first century A schizophrenic virtuality It's a twenty first century I'm bitter... I'm twisted... I'm cynical me Into the twenty first century Twenty first century

Mike Peters Notes
:”I was never completely happy with the original lyric of the ’21st’ demo version that appeared on the ‘System’ CD, and so I updated it in the studio during the recording sessions. It has been interesting to release the demo first and allow people into the development of the song. This is something I might try again in the future.”
