The Countdown to The Gathering 2024 in Cardiff, Wales on January 18th – 21st has now begun.
NOT LONG NOW until Mike Peters and The Alarm descend on Cardiff, Wales with a horde of fans ready to takeover the City for a four day weekend celebrating Alarm music past, present and future.
The Gathering Countdown to January 18th 2024 will tick off the days with some very special photo posters appearing each day on The Alarm social media platforms, X, Instagram and Facebook.
Gathering Tickets are selling faster than ever and it already promises to be a fascinating and event-filled weekend with activities taking place all across the City centre from Cardiff University to Cardiff Bay.
Mike Peters is already making all kinds of plans for Gathering 2024 including a complete Friday night performance of The Alarm’s classic 1984 album Declaration plus other critical songs from the era’s Sound and The Fury tour. This special concert will take place at Y Plas, Cardiff University on Friday 19th of January.
The Gathering will then move across the concourse to the Great Hall for a Saturday night of Alarm classics drawn from the extensive Mike Peters’ songbook which began in 1981 with Unsafe Building. The Alarm songbook has been added to ever since, and is alive with great and diverse material from all the decades including over 400 songs from albums such as Strength, Change, In the Poppy Fields, Under Attack, Forwards and all points in between……
Before and after the keynote concerts, fans will be able to immerse themselves in Alarm culture and camraderie by attending all manner of formal / informal get togethers and sessions such as The Alarm Mastermind, a rare screening of the 1989 BBC Wales Documentary – Blaze of Glory in broadcast quality with host Gareth ‘Gaz Top’ Jones taking up his traditional role as Master of Gathering Ceremonies.
All of these extra curricular activities will take place at the two official fringe Gathering venues beginning with The Ga’Thur’ing at The Temple Bar on Thursday 18th January and continuing across the weekend at The Old Arcade, where travelling and local fans will be able to socialise and gather in an Alarm-friendly atmosphere with plenty of opportunity to reminisce and catch up on old times and also find out and look forward to what promises to be an action-packed 2024.
As is now traditional with The Gathering, you can expect to expect the unexpected, witness special guest appearances, walk and talk with masses of Alarm fans and join Mike Peters for the Love Hope Strength Walkathon on Sunday morning 21st January in Cardiff Bay plus lots, lots more that will be revealed just as soon as we have a full itinerary from Mike Peters and The Gathering team which will be published here just as soon as it is finalised.
