Mike Peters and The Alarm have been confirmed as the headline act for South Wales – Merthyr Rising Festival and will appear on Sunday May 27th 2018.
The festival appearance will be one of only a handful of U.K. dates that The Alarm will play this year, and will coincide with the release of a brand new album on May 4th.
“It’s just over 30 years since The Alarm played at the Rhydycar Leisure Centre in November 1987,” says lead singer and proud Welshman – Mike Peters, “I’m grateful for this opportunity to be able to bring The Alarm back to Merthyr Tydfil and mark the birth place of an event that showed how everyday people can act and stand up for themselves. The spirit of those 1831 actions is a huge part of what makes Alarm songs like ‘A New South Wales’ connect to people from all walks of life, especially those striving to create a better life for themselves, their family and their community.”
The Alarm appearance at Merthyr Rising will be the finale to band’s Bank Holiday Weekender events, which will see The Alarm perform major UK and US concerts over three separate weekends.
Beginning in Glasgow O2 ABC (May 4th), Holmfirth Picture Drome (May 5th), the group will then fly to the USA for appearances in New York and Los Angeles (May 11-13 th), and then back to the UK for a special show at London’s O2 Forum Kentish Town on Saturday May 26th with the finale at Merthyr Rising on Sunday May 27th
