Sometimes it takes more than medicine to save a person. For Welsh musician Mike Peters, that has come in the form of a big, bottomless, self-prescribed bottle of rock and roll.
Good health and a rock and roll lifestyle might seem incongruous, but before getting on stage at the World Cafe Live in Wilmington, Delaware, Peters told “The Pulse” how music and a punk rock attitude got him through a confusing diagnosis and years of living with cancer. Along the way, he met a faith healer named Bambi and cofounded a group that recruits willing concert goers to sign up for the bone marrow registry.
Peters’ band toured with U2 in the early ’80s and also opened for Bob Dylan. His top hits include “68 Guns,” “Rescue Me,” and “Rain in the Summertime.”
