‘Let The River Run Its Course’ [3:53] (The Alarm), The Alarm
Lead Vocals:Mike Peters
Lyrics
:
The futures deserted waiting there for you and me No past is going to stop us blowing down this road apiece Why weve come too far, too far to turn back now We cant just throw it all away when something good goes wrong, oh no Nothing has been written which says which way we have to go Im not looking for commitment written in stone No everlasting promise no no Let the river Let the river run Let the water Let the water fall Flow down off the mountain Into the sea Let the river run, run its course Weve stood this ground too long theres miles to make up Oh its way past the time we found out if were truly good enough Theres no truth like the truth you dare to let yourself see Better face it now there is nothing to fear Everything to gain right in here Let the river Let the river run Let the water Let the water fall Flow down off the mountain Into the sea Let the river run Let the river run Run its course Let the river Let the river run Let the water Let the water fall Flow down off the mountain Into the sea Let the river run Let the river run Let the water fall Let the river run Let the water fall

Mike Peters Notes
:This is a very confessional song dealing with a relationship that has lasted a very long time and is in danger of turning sour. This is about reaffirming the values that made the relationship special in the first place but more importantly not putting too much pressure on for any firm commitment to the future, but to take life as it comes day by day.
