ALARM GOES OFF: The Alarm is set to release its first album since scoring a major 2004 hit single in the U.K., “45 RPM,” under the name The Poppy Fields. The Welsh band’s first new release in 15 years, Under Attack, will come out May 30 on the Eleven Thirty Records label, distributed by indie RedEye. Leader Mike Peters, who was diagnosed with leukemia last December, says he discovered the song “Without a Fight,” from the new album, written before he learned he had the disease, details his determination to battle it out. Meanwhile, Shrek producer John H. Williams is developing a feature film based on the band’s unlikely 2004 comeback, which tricked a majority of the media into believing they were a new band. (3/22a)
