WHEN Green Day gave an uber-fashionable music programme of their top 10 most influential bands, Mike Peters from Welsh rock outfit The Alarm was convinced they’d have a place on the list. Weeks earlier, lead singer Billy Joe told him he was the reason he picked up a guitar and spent an after-show party with his arms draped around the 46-year-old’s neck. They didn’t even make number 10, but with a single in the top 40 and a gig this weekend at one of Wales’s hippest venues, Mike claims it has never been cool to like The Alarm.
