After the money disputes that led to the band breaking-up in 1986, the band agree to replace Ian wilson with Elliott Roberts as manager. The loss of Ian Wilson was not immediately felt, as Roberts was quick to use his influence to ge the Alarm on a support tour with Bob Dylan, and get them to meet some of their heroes like Neil Young. However, the effect of Wilson’s loss was seen over time. The Alarm Fan club, run by one of Wilson’s key people, tured int oa shadow of it’s former self. Also, while Wilson was like the 5th member of The Alarm, Roberts stayed at arms length, and was distracted by his other high-profile acts like Tracey Chapman. By 1991, the loss of Ian Wilson might have been one of the biggest contributing factors to the band breaking-up.
