Mercury Music Prize Contenders ‘The Hummingbirds’ to support The Alarm at Gathering 21

The Hummingbirds are a Skiffle inspired ensemble from Liverpool.

Growing up on the streets of Merseyside the band have been heavily influenced by music from a simpler time, capturing that unmistakable Liverpool sound that is helping make quite a stir with their feel-good tunes and strong melodic sensibilities.

Winning a host of new fans wherever they play, receiving great reviews as their infectious melodies and hook-laden choruses are the perfect tonic to the current “dour” social climate. The band is also winning music industry awards (One to watch Liverpool Music Awards 2012) and is hotly tipped to win the 2013 Mercury Music Prize!

Sporting more than a cheeky nod to their Merseybeat heritage, The Hummingbirds have quickly built a great reputation and army of fans in their hometown, regularly selling out top Liverpool venues with their unique Nu-Skiffle sound.

With just a year under their belts the band is set to embark on gigs across the country and at the end of 2012 received a fantastic response from both fans and critics alike when they supported both Pete Doherty and Cast in sellout shows.

Public attention has also been focused on The Hummingbirds recently, after both Wayne and Colleen Rooney tweeted their love of the band’s music, that has helped them win fans the world over along with increased media attention.

The Hummingbirds are full of energy, ambition and are more than ready to embark upon the next step of their music ladder and are proud to support The Alarm at this years Gathering.
