The countdown to the USA Gathering in New York City is ticking down and with the hugely anticipated event now just under a week away, fans from Europe and other parts of the world are looking forward to joining together with their US counterparts to celebrate the music of The Alarm past, present and future.

Two very special Alarm shows will take place throughout the weekend starting on Friday April 12th at the Gramercy Theatre (Sold Out), and on Saturday April 13th and at Irving Plaza (Tickets available here).

Saturday April 13th is also World Record Store Day and The Alarm will be officially taking part for a third year running, with the release of the brand new LP ‘Strength Live ‘85’. To coincide with the run up to the new release, The Alarm – Strength An Oral History will continue to be serialised at www.thealarm.com with a new post every day right through to Saturday April 13th.

On release day, Mike Peters will be making a special personal appearance at Generation Records, NYC at 1pm (only a short walk away from Irving Plaza), where he will be performing live and signing copies of the new double album.

During The Gathering NYC Weekend itself, Mike Peters and The Alarm will be pulling out all the stops to make this year’s event truly special and unique.

On Friday night at the Gramercy Theatre (SOLD OUT), The band will perform the exact set list performed by The Alarm at the infamous Spirit of ‘86 concert that was broadcast live around the globe by MTV on April 12th 1986. Fans at home around the world will also be able to join in the spirit of the event by tuning into thealarm.com for a special one off widescreen broadcast of the original concert which will go out live over the band’s youtube channel at the same time the Mike Peters and co. hit the stage at The Gramercy.

A special American Premiere of the powerful documentary ‘Mike and Jules – While We Still Have Time’ (featuring a contribution from U2’s Bono), will take place at 1900 followed by a Q&A with Mike and Jules that will be hosted by Alex Coletti (MTV Unplugged / Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Producer),

Mike Peters will also perform a 30th Anniversary acoustic set that highlights the 30th anniversary of The Alarm’s Change album which was originally released in 1989.

During the build up to release of ‘Live ’85’ and The Gathering NYC weekend www.thealarm.com will feature daily transcripts from the continuing serialisation of the Strength Oral History beginning today, and honouring the recent reissue of the Strength 1985-1986 remastered LP, CD and digital editions which has featured in the main album charts on both sides of the Atlantic. In the USA, Strength 1985 / 1986 debuted at #70 in the Indie chart and at #45 on the Alternative Top 100. In the UK, Strength 1985-1986 also featured in the Independent Chart at #43 making it a great first week of release.

At Irving Plaza on Saturday April 13th (Tickets available here), The Alarm will be performing a high energy and lengthy set list featuring music from every decade of the band’s timeline. Ryan Hamilton who went down so well with Alarm fans in the UK recently has just been confirmed as special guest and Tony Visconti (producer of Change and David Bowie / T-Rex), is rumoured to be joining the band on stage at some point during the proceedings.

Following the show, all the musicians will be in attendance at the After show party to hang out, play records, take selfies and generally join in the late night fun that only The Alarm Gathering Weekend and a night in the Big Apple can offer.

BRING IT ON.
