Review: Dave Sharp Review:King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut, Glasgow, August 10

SAUNTERING on to the stage like the old pro he is, ex-Alarm guitarist Dave Sharp cut an eye-catching figure in his black PVC waistcoat and medallion.

He launched into his set and, with his two guitars and harmonica, he was truly a one-man band, the archetypal wandering musician.

Switching between acoustic and electric guitar, he varied the pace and kept things interesting. A mixture of rock, folk and blues, his electric style has no doubt been enhanced by his recent extended residence in New Orleans.

Every travelling trucker’s favourite, Sharp might have been alone up there, but he created a rocked-out atmosphere much larger bands would have been proud of.
