Moments in Time

1981 – 6th June – First gig at Royal Victoria public house, Prestatyn
1981 – Self financed debut single ‘Unsafe Building’ released on their own ‘White Cross’ label.
1981 – 22nd December band support U2 at Lyceum Ballroom, London.

1982 – The Alarm sign to Miles Copeland’s IRS records and release second single ‘Marching On’
1982 – The Alarm play hundreds of gigs supporting The Beat, Boomtown Rats, The Jam, Stiff Little Fingers etc.

1983 – Mike Peters joins U2 on stage at Hammersmith Palais along with Stuart Adamson of Big Country. U2’s Bono calls them “The New Breed”.
1983 – The Alarm’s third single ‘The Stand’ becomes a hit in the USA whilst The Alarm are supporting U2 on the American leg of the ‘War’ tour.
1983 – The Alarm fly back from the USA to appear on Top Of The Pops as ‘Sixty Eight Guns’ hits the UK charts.

1984 – Declaration – The Alarm’s debut album released and enters UK Top 5 and album charts all over the world.

1985 – Strength – The Alarm’s second album and single f same name released to enormous success in the USA.

1986 – Spirit Of ’86 The Alarm headline their own concert in LA to 26,000 people during the first ever ‘Live’ worldwide Satellitte broadcast on MTV.

1987 – ‘Rain In the Summertime’ becomes another international hit single from the album ‘Eye Of The Hurricane’

1988 – The Alarm appear with Bob Dylan all across the United States and Mike Peters duets ‘Knocking On Heaven’s Door’ with Bob Dylan himself.
1988 – Mike Peters marries Jules in his hometown of Prestatyn on August 27th
1989 – The Alarm record their fourth album Change / Newid in both English and Welsh. The first ever bi-lingual rock album.
1989 – The double A side single ‘A New South Wales’ / ‘Hwlio Dros Y Mor’ becomes the first ever Welsh language single to make the UK Top 40.
1989 – Neil Young joins The Alarm on stage in New York City to perform Rocking In the Freeworld.

1990 – The Alarm release ‘Raw’
1990 – The Alarm perform in Pontins, Prestatyn (Future home of The Gathering) to raise funds for those affected by the Towyn Floods.

1991 – June 30th 1991 – Brixton Academy – Mike Peters breaks the band up onstage after performing the song ‘Going Out In A Blaze Of Glory’.

1992 – Mike Peters performs solo for the first time with the Poets Of Justice featuring future ‘Kings Of Leon’ producer Ethan Johns on guitar.
1992 – First ever Gathering held in Rhyl Town Hall on December 12th 1992.

1993 – First ever official Alarm / Mike Peters internet site launched.

1994 – ‘Breathe’ Mike Peters debut solo album released and hits number 5 on the independent album charts.
1994 – Mike Peters is the special guest on the Saw Doctors Uk tour.

1995 – Mike Peters performs with self confessed Alarm fans Radiohead in Albany, USA.
1995 – Mike Peters diagnosed with Non Hodgkins Lymphoma but forgoes treatment and continues to tour in the USA wearing green combat fatigues on and off stage

1996 – Mike Peters given the all clear from cancer and performs at the Royal Albert Hall in London for the first time

1997 – ‘Feel Free’ the second solo album released worldwide and Mike Peters performs the album at SXSW music festival in Austin, Texas.

1998 – Mike Peters third solo album ‘Rise’ released featuring guest appearance from Billy Duffy guitarist of ‘The Cult’

1999 – Mike Peters and Billy Duffy collaborate further as ‘Coloursound’ and record highly acclaimed album featuring Sisters Of Mercy / Mission bassist Craig Adams.
1999 – Mike Peters performs with Big Country for a Uk tour joined by original Alarm member Eddie Macdonald on guitar.

2000 – The Alarm is reignited by Mike Peters with James Stevenson of Generation X on guitar and tour across the UK, Europe and USA.

2001 – Mike Peters joins Glen Matlock (Sex Pistols), Slim Jim Phantom (Stray Cats), Kirk Brandon (Spear Of Destiny) and Pete Wylie (Mighty Wah!), as Dead Men Walking and are also joined on stage occasionally by Mick Jones of The Clash.

2002 – Mike Peters writes and records music for Helen Griffin play ‘Flesh & Blood’ at the Sherman Theatre Cardiff.

2003 – The Alarm release the ‘In The Poppy Fields Bond’ on their 21st century label. An epic production involving writing, recording and releasing 5 albums in 5 months.
2003 – The Alarm perform at the San Siro Stadium in Milan and The Olympic Stadium in Rome.

2004 – The Alarm hit the UK charts again with the controversial single ’45 RPM’ under the fake moniker ‘The Poppy Fields’. The story goes global.
2004 – Mike and Jules have their first child ‘Dylan ap Michael’ born on May 1st

2005 – The Alarm resign to EMI Records.
2005 – Mike Peters diagnosed with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia (CLL) in December.

2006 – Whilst undergoing chemotherapy Mike Peters continues to perform with The Alarm. New album ‘Under Attack’ is released in wake of hit single ‘Superchannel’.
2006 – BBC follow Mike Peters for the ducumentary ‘Road To Recovery’ as Mike goes into remission for the second time.

2007 – Mike Peters launches ‘Love Hope Strength Cancer Foundation with concert atop the Empire State Building.
2007 – Mike Peters hosts the first ever ‘Snowdon Rocks’ to raise over £60,000 for cancer care in North Wales.
2007 – Mike Peters leads a team of musicians including ‘Glen Tilbrook’ to world’s highest concert on land at 18,000 feet on Mt. Everest buying much needed cancer treatment equipment for centre in Kathmandu.

2008 The Alarm release album ‘Guerilla Tactics’ via an audacious acoustic concert in New York’s Times Square.
2008 Mike Peters leads a team of musicians to Macchu Pichu, Peru in support of a mobile cancer unit to treat patients in remote villages,

2009 Mike Peters performs with members of Joe Strummer’s Mescalero’s in a special celebration of the life of the late Clash frontman.
2009 Mike Peters together with wife Jules lead a team to the summit of Kilimanjaro in Africa raising funds for a children’s cancer unit in Tanzania.

2010 The Alarm release ‘Direct Action’ and tour UK and USA appearing at festivals across the UK including Isle Of Wight.
2010 Mike Peters again leads a team of musicians to Mt. Fuji in Japan to highlight the need for Bone Marrow Donors worldwide.

2011 Mike Peters joins Big Country to honour the life of his friend Stuart Adamson. Tour is a sellout throughout the UK.
2011 Mike Peters & The Alarm will once again perform in Prestatyn (birthplace of both The Alarm and Mike Peters) celebrating 30 years of rock and roll at The Gathering 19.
